GRAND OPENING JUNE 6 4–6 PM

Polo Takes Root in Montana.

Where refined sport meets the raw beauty of Montana, shaping a new expression of western tradition.

Welcome to Yellowstone Polo Club.

Located at Sagebrush Equine Facility in Billings, Montana, Yellowstone Polo Club offers a thoughtful introduction to the sport through membership, instruction, polo school, leagues, and match play.

Polo, often referred to as the “sport of kings,” is one of the oldest team sports in the world, with a history spanning more than 2,000 years. Today, it is played across more than 90 countries, with hundreds of clubs supporting the game globally. While polo has long held a presence in neighboring regions, it has yet to establish a formal home in Montana. Yellowstone Polo Club represents the first official non-collegiate member club in the state, with a focus on building a considered, welcoming home for the sport in Big Sky country.

Whether you are new to riding or simply new to polo, our program is designed to meet you at your starting point. Guided instruction and a structured introduction to the game allow new riders and players to develop with clarity and confidence. Explore membership, learn more about getting started, or see upcoming opportunities across the site.

ABOUT

A sporting home, shaped for Montana.

Yellowstone Polo Club is the club’s sporting and event entity, bringing together membership, instruction, match play, and hosted gatherings in a setting shaped by horsemanship, landscape, and seasonality.

Alongside it, the Yellowstone Polo Foundation exists separately as the nonprofit counterpart, supporting access, stewardship, youth opportunity, and the longer care of the land and culture that allow polo to take root well in Montana.

FOUNDER’S NOTE

The club begins with continuity, not invention.

Stephanie Walker has known the people closest to this project since early childhood and has spent years riding alongside them, carrying forward a shared language of horses, discipline, and equestrian life.

Stephanie Walker has been riding and showing since long before Wellington became what it is today, and that long view informs the tone of the club now: grounded, horse-first, and built with enough patience to last.
